Henri-Joseph Harpignies - The Painter's Garden at Saint-Prive [1886], a photo by Gandalf's Gallery on Flickr.
In about 1879 Harpignies retired to his property of La Trémellerie at Saint-Privé on the banks of the river Loing (in the département of the Yonne), south-east of Paris. The formal garden there became a favourite subject for the artist. Harpignies was born in Valenciennes. He was in Italy in 1850-52 and 1863-65. He exhibited at the Salon from 1853. He was a landscape painter, and was influenced by Corot.
